A CLEAR Path to God

Have a look…

Will Praying with My Heart Work for Me?

You might be wondering ...

Is praying with your heart truly Biblical?

Is prayer of the heart of the Devil?

Isn’t praying with my heart too ‘high-falutin’, far above what I can do, and really only for ‘sophisticated’ folks?

Is it just a passing fad of some Christian folks who love to engage in psycho-babble that nobody else can ever fathom?

Is praying with your heart truly Christian prayer?

If you are asking these questions, you are wise.

I would most definitely ask them too.

39 Years Ago, I Asked the Lord These Same Questions and the

Lord Gave Me His Answer

And, 39 years ago, when I too desperately needed answers, I did ask the Lord.

The fact is that, 39 years ago, I myself had faced a huge trauma and had urgently needed the Lord’s help.

I had known and loved the Lord since very early childhood. But just at this point in my adult life when I had needed Him most, He seemed to have completely disappeared off my radar.

In fact, He seemed absent.

I had consulted with 3 different pastors —all specially recommended —for help. But regrettably, none of them was at all able to offer me a way of re-connecting to the God who had been the linchpin of my life for 35 full years.

To help me out, a godly woman whom I had got to know only recently now stepped into the breach. She offered to pray on my behalf.

A few days later, she introduced me to another woman. This woman had not only dedicated her life to the Lord from early adulthood but was also a trained and widely experienced Christian guide.

I met at length with this guide.

She listed very intently to my story.

In stark contrast to the 3 pastors, this guide radiated the presence of the Lord.

She actually carried in her being the Lord’s unique brand of peace and joy.

Hope and trust arose within me.

In fact, through her, I began to feel already re-connected to the Lord who seemed to have abandoned me.

By the end of our hour-long meeting, I knew in my bones that she was the Lord’s answer to my plea for help.

It was this holy woman who introduced me to praying with my heart.

So…having been through the wringer myself, I understand completely your doubts and questions.

And I believe that they require entirely valid and honest answers.

That’s exactly what I shall do right now.

What would you think if …?

What would you think if someone invited you to a birthday party and then simply sent you a photograph of someone else’s party celebrations?

Totally absurd, right?

Absurd, because you had not participated in the birthday party yourself.

The personal encounter that you had every right to expect and had looked forward to had been denied you.

It’s exactly the same with God’s invitation to encounter Him with your heart i. e. the whole person you are.

The Lord doesn’t want you to rely on a mere photo of Him taken by somebody else of someone else’s party!

He doesn’t want you to rely on someone else’s second-or thirdhand regurgitation of their experience of Him!

Definitely not!

The Lord wants you to

  • experience His love FIRSTHAND FOR YOURSELF
  • experience it WHENEVER YOU WANT OR NEED TO

How can that happen?

You experience the Lord’s love most directly when you spend a few minutes each day in His presence —alone, silent, and free of distractions.

And the Lord does NOT mean you to experience His love as a ‘one-off’ event never to be repeated.

No love relationship or genuine friendship can grow and thrive on that kind of sparse love.

In fact, that’s really not love at all.

Imagine a husband saying to his wife, ‘You must rely on your first experience of my love for you. That’s it. Don’t expect it again for the next 40/50 years of our life together.’

Completely absurd, right?

The Lord never engages in absurdities.

He is the master of reality.

He desires that you enjoy a continuing experience of His love for you

----

There is absolutely no success or failure in this (or any other) form of prayer.

So … you lose nothing at all and gain so very much if you simply try it for 5 - 10 minutes each day, the same time it takes you to enjoy a hot cup of your favourite beverage!

As with any adventure, getting started is the most important thing.

Taking Care of Yourself Always Costs You Something

If you were sick and tired of your various physical and emotional maladies and the poor quality of life that they caused you, wouldn’t you make a conscious decision to take your trusted health practitioner’s advice to do X, Y and Z?

At first, perhaps, the steps to healing that the practitioner gives you might seem fairly daunting.

You may wonder how you’re ever going to manage.

But with each tiny effort of your will, and keeping at the forefront of your mind the many benefits to come, you discover that it’s not as hard as you’d thought.

Then, as you begin to experience for yourself these benefits, you’re hooked.

The first few days now turn into weeks.

And you realize the deep truth of your doctor’s advice.

You wonder how you ever managed to put up with your low-quality life before!

Now you spread the word to others.

You want everyone to experience what you are experiencing!

It’s exactly the same in the life of your spiritual journey and your prayer.

Let’s face it: really taking care of yourself  always costs you something.

In return for the solid benefits you reap with prayer of the heart, you are asked to give your time just a few minutes of it.

The important thing is to make the decision to begin!

God rejoices at your decision.

It makes His heart sing.

He honors you for making it.

And He will give you all the help you need to stay with your prayer time, even when it seems hard or even pointless.

Whenever you doubt this prayer and its enormous benefits, let Jesus’ own teaching on prayer set your mind fully at ease.

After all, is it not He who is your Teacher on how to pray?

He is your ultimate Teacher on prayer.

Always take Him at His word.

He has your very best interests at heart in a way that no one else ever can or ever does!
