In Part 1, I explained…

• God has gifted us with trustworthy, experienced spiritual guides  to hold our hand and help us walk along this prayer-path to our ultimate healing and victory

Part 2

When You Pray with Your Heart, You and the Lord Become a Team

When you pray with your heart, you and the Lord become a team.

You see, the most interesting thing about this form of prayer, and what sets it apart from all other forms of prayer, is that you don’t do all the work!

You don’t do all the talking.

Or all the thinking.

In fact, in this way of prayer, you have deliberately decided to leave EVERYTHING to God.

You’ve deliberately chosen to take a back seat.

Your goal is to be relaxed yet alert, so that you can be as fully and directly present to God as possible.

The only ‘work’ you are asked to do is to make a decision in your will to let go of words, thoughts and images for the duration of your time spent with God.

You do this in order to make room for God’s Holy Spirit.

Each one of us, you included, has been given a measure of faith (Romans 12:3). As is the case with any other form of prayer, it is this measure of faith that you take with you when praying with your heart.

As you do, you discover that you have taken take the first small step to opening up your ‘heart’ i. e. the whole of your being, to God’s Presence.

You can now enter into a far more direct, unfiltered experience of God’s PRESENCE, LOVE, REST /PEACE, and JOY.

You now are able to access what has seemed ‘closed’ to you yet what you have been longing for i.e. to experience the Lord at the level of your heart (rather than mostly your intellect) —directly, firsthand, and without filters, and experience directly and firsthand His LOVE for YOU —not for someone else, for YOU!

This is how praying from and with your heart enables you to grow in your personal journey with the Lord.

Your journey is tailor-made by the Holy Spirit to fit your OWN unique needs, personality, and God-given dreams.

No one else in the Universe will go on quite the same journey in quite the same way.

Praying with and from Your Heart Allows You to Get Close to the Lord, and the Lord to Get Close to You, in a New Way

Prayer of the heart allows you to get close to the Lord and the Lord to get close to you in a fresh way.

Why?

Because this form of prayer gets rid of many of the things that have blocked you from fully experiencing God and fully receiving His gifts.

This is why this special form of prayer can be the most heart-changing, transforming form of all prayer.

It’s no wonder, then, that Jesus instructed us to pray in this way.

Don’t let anyone ever tell you that prayer of the heart is the exclusive privilege of monks, hermits and ‘religious’ people.

That’s patently untrue.

Praying with your heart is the way of prayer that Jesus taught us ALL.

Praying with your heart is therefore within the reach of ANY man, woman or, even, child. 

In fact, children take to this way of prayer like ducks to water. This is because they don’t carry around with them all the baggage/barriers to God that we adults have accumulated since early childhood!

PLEASE KNOW that God has already given you everything that you need to put this way of prayer into practice and to reap its unbelievable, far-reaching, and unending benefits:

• The Holy Spirit lives in you (Luke 11:13)

• The Holy Spirit is the conduit of God’s love within you (Romans 5:5) as well as your Teacher, Guide and Advocate/ Supporter/Encourager (John 14: 16, 26; John 16:13, 14)

• The Holy Spirit helps you pray when you are not sure how to pray (Romans 8:26)

• God has already gifted you and me with the measure of faith He knows we need for our ongoing journey with Him (Romans 12:3)

• God knows your needs before you ask (Matthew 6:8)

• The Lord answers your cries before you ask (Isaiah 65:24)

• You have a great High Priest who is always interceding for you (Romans 8:34)

• ‘…How much more will your Father give you the Holy Spirit…?’ (Luke 11:13)

• You ‘…can approach His throne with confidence and receive grace to help us in time of need…’ (Hebrews 4:16)

So…You CAN Approach the Lord with CONFIDENCE and Receive His HELP Whenever You Need It

When you need God’s help urgently, please know that the Lord has already beaten you to it!

He knew exactly what your needs were long before you did (Matthew 6:8).

He’s wanted to find you and connect (or re-connect) with you FAR MORE and for FAR LONGER than you have wanted to find and connect (or re-connect) with Him!

He’s awaiting YOU.

He wants right now to wrap YOU in His arms and LOVE you just as you are.

There are NEVER ANY CONDITIONS attached to His love.

As you discover how to pray with your heart for a few minutes each day, you’ll come gradually to understand and accept this.

And once you start to understand this, you will approach God with a fresh confidence.

With this fresh confidence, you are in the very best position to start receiving from God the blessings you need in order not just to survive but —as unbelievable as this might sound —to actually thrive in ANY situation facing you.

Believe me: it really IS worth your while to discover this way of praying with your heart that Jesus himself has given you and me.
