A CLEAR Path to God
Have a look…
Could it be Time to S-L-O-W Down Again… and Take Stock?
You and I have to have a way to s-l-o-w down and smell the roses.
Our lives are so rushed these days.
Continuous rushing around does violence to ourselves —and to those others whose lives we touch.
And life these days is also unusually unpredictable.
Life is uncertain —politically, financially, personally.
This uncertainty can destabilize you unless you have a daily Christ-centered practice to counter it.
The good news is that there are things you CAN do to maintain your inner peace and joy and protect your stability.
You CAN ask the Lord to help you come up with your own best-suited ways to take shelter from the noise.
Wise Words to Remember
When you are feeling overwhelmed by life’s invasive noise and violence, it’s necessary for us Christian women to think back to what Jesus said about dealing with difficulties:
Let’s digest and retain at the forefront of our minds and hearts these amazing words of Jesus…
In this world you will have trouble.
But take heart!
I have overcome the world.
 John 16:33 NIV:
And it might be a very good idea, too, to learn by heart the words of the following simple scriptural truth:
It’s useless to rise early and go to bed late,
And work your worried fingers to the bone.
Psalm 127:2 The Message
It’s also unquestionably helpful to discover the unparalleled, healing power of silence.
Learn to Tap in Regularly to the Healing Power of Silence…
There are 2 kinds of silence.
There’s a negative, hopeless silence.
And there’s a positive, healing silence.
You see, when you consciously invite the Lord into your time of silence each day, the silence brings healing with it.
This healing silence is what the Lord wishes for you.
And it’s what I wish for you!
You and I live in a world of relentless noise.
This leads to increasing tension.
And, when left to their own devices, tension and noise are very likely to give way to violence—mental, spiritual, emotional, and physical.
If you wish to safeguard and maintain your mental, spiritual, physical, and emotional health, learn to bring some silence into your daily routine.
Reduce the noise in your life.
You’ll never regret it!
When practised regularly, silence has the power to heal.
When practised regularly, silence renews your energies.
Learn Ways to Take Shelter from the Noise
You can learn to take shelter from the ‘noise’ surrounding you.
There are several ways to do this.

You’ll be a far more effective and inspiring woman, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter!
- Spend 5 – 10 minutes of your day in silence at your workplace or at home.
Try to make that a physical silence too i. e. be still in your body.
- Go for a relaxed 15 – 20-minute walk in nature.
- Listen to a favorite piece of inspirational and/or sacred music.
- If you have a bathtub, ‘turn down’ the stress with a luxurious warm bath.
- Once a week when the kids are at school or visiting friends eat a meal in leisurely silence e. g. have a late breakfast in bed, alone and in silence.
- When you begin to wind down your day with your family, tell them you’d like them to join you in silence for 5 minutes.
Be firm with your request.
But make a point of remaining light-hearted and good-humoured about it!
Do this every other night, for just 3 nights.
If your family doesn’t respond reasonably well, let go of it.
But if they respond reasonably well, increase the silence next time to 7 minutes, and then 10 minutes, but no more.Â
Whatever you do, never force the issue!
- Take some time to think of the love you have received in the past.
Reflect on what this meant to you at the time, what it means to you now on looking back, and how it affected/benefited you.
In what way can you show your family members, work colleagues, prayer partners, friends, neighbours a little extra love today, tomorrow, the next day, and the next….?
Then do it, expecting nothing whatever back in return!
Make it a surprise and watch carefully their reaction.
- Love on yourself!
Do something special for yourself at least once a week.
God wants you to love yourself.
God knows that you can’t give to others what you don’t possess yourself.
God wants you to take very good care of yourself.
Please don’t feel any guilt whatsoever about this!
- Meditation Using Scripture
-
- Choose a favourite short Bible passage or one which has a particular appeal for you. Read it s-l-o-w-l-y TWICE.
Choose one sentence or phrase that strikes you especially. Stay with that for a few minutes, or a whole day, or even 2 or 3 days...for as long as you wish.

Notice how you feel, what you see, when you become that person. Watch Jesus —His facial expression, His eyes, His physical gestures. Try to imagine how He’s feeling inside, what He might say to the people in the story, what He might say to you. Use my article to help you.Â

- Discover a new closeness to the Lord by praying with your heart.
Spend 5 –10 -15 minutes today opening your WHOLE self, (the Bible calls this your ‘heart’) to the presence of God.
Your only 2 goals are to

How this pdf GUIDE helped Sonia and her friends
Sonia is a mother, grandmother, and business owner
Jan sent me her free PDF Guide in the middle of the Covid pandemic we were facing across the globe. The timing I believe was God appointed. The concise and very practical way in which Jan explained the ease at which we can enter into the presence of God and envelop ourselves in the love He offers us as our Abba Father, was a timely reminder for me.
I have walked this journey with Jan for about thirty years, and quieting myself and spending time in HIS Presence is very much a part of my own walk with Jesus.
Tuning into the Lord’s presence, peace, love, and joy in this manner and journaling those things that the Holy Spirit speaks into my spirit helps me see my life with all of its challenges through the eyes of Jesus.
It truly dispels my fears and wipes away the anxiety that can so easily turn my life into turmoil.
One of the most helpful things about this Guide is that I can share these steps now so easily with friends and share this truly life changing process as we seek to know Jesus more intimately and make Him known.
Thank you, Jan, for sharing this with me.

- Keep a simple journal. You’ll discover that journaling is not just therapeutic but brings you many additional, and often unexpected, benefits.
You’ll never regret starting a journal.
Ready for a Little Pep Talk?
Remember the scriptural truth I presented at the beginning of this article?
It’s useless to rise early and go to bed late,
And work your worried fingers to the bone.
Psalm 127:2 The Message
Why not learn it by heart?
Remember Your Unique Identity and Hold on to Your Unique Dignity
When life gets noisy and stressed…
Remember your unique identity.
And hold on to your unique dignity.
The most effective way to ensure this is to spend a few minutes daily in the Lord’s presence, praying with your heart.
Again, my FREE GUIDE (see POINT # 11 in the previous section) shows you the 2 simple steps to doing this.
When you pray with your heart for a few minutes each day, you begin to gradually experience a new intimacy with the Lord.
It is this intimacy that changes you from the inside out.
You begin to experience God, yourself —and your life in general —in a NEW way.
You begin to understand that the Lord is embracing you in a NEW identity!
This new identity gradually takes you from a mindset of ongoing stress, noise, and overwhelm to one of increasing faith, confidence, strength and FREEDOM.
Your new identity…
- provides the stability you need in a frenetic-paced world
- enables you to remain anchored right smack in the midst of any challenges you might have to face
- helps you to see that…
It’s useless to rise early and go to bed late,
And work your worried fingers to the bone.Psalm 127:2 The Message

I’m Jan Weel.Â
In 1984, at the age of 35, in answer to my prayer for urgent help during a personal trauma, God introduced me to a simple and utterly reliable way to experience firsthand, directly, one-on-one, His presence, love and rest.
The early church had prayed in this way. In fact, this is the very same way of prayer that Jesus himself taught you and me.

I really miss the one-on-one guidance sessions with Jan. I felt so cared for and respected as I would watch Jan thinking on the spot before coming up with a clear and helpful answer as I placed the complexities of my problem before her.
